Telling Our Stories: Student Experiences at UW Tacoma
This Telling Our Stories video tells the story of Erica Juarez-Ramos, where she describes her educational journey as a first-generation college student. She further discusses how her experience as a Criminal Justice major who is graduating in 2020 has not been easy. Erica explains how her experiences as a Latina at UW-T have made her realize that there isn’t a lot of representation Latinx community or of other minority groups on campus. In sharing her struggles, Erica points that mentors and mentorship impacted her educational journey, which has resulted in a better outlook of life.

This discussion explains the importance of ordinances, exploring the history of organizing within the City of Seattle, uncovering some of the barriers for racial equity legislation, and identifying opportunities for change.
This RSJI Summit was a virtual event that brings City of Seattle employees together to increase our collective capacity for race and social justice work. The 2022 Summit is presented by the Race and Social Justice Initiative, Seattle Office for Civil Rights, and Seattle Center.
GenCyber: Tacoma
The National Security Agency (NSA) and National Science Foundation (NSF) developed the GenCyber program to provides cybersecurity camp experiences for students and teachers at the K-12 level. The goals of the program are to increase interest in cybersecurity careers and diversity in the cybersecurity workforce of the nation, help all students understand safe online behavior and how they can be good digital citizens.
